A Wall

One thousand pieces in natural terracotta, black and white clay denoting racial diversity laying on a bed of marble.

Corn was first cultivated in Mexico 10000 years ago by people who now have their lands divided by an impregnable border. Mexico, historically an amalgamation of Asians, Africans and Europeans today stands at the forefront of a xenophobic war from the north. The indigenous people who brought corn to the United States slowly become aliens in a war fought on a political economy that enshrines power by disenfranchising humanity.
